Allison Barrow R.ECE
Her love of early childhood education has been focused on reflections of the Reggio Emilia Approach for the past 19 years. Allison was part of the 2002, 2011 and 2015 Canadian delegations to the schools of Reggio Emilia and participated in an in-depth study of the philosophy. In 2006, she was on the executive committee to host the 100 Languages of Children Exhibit in the prestigious TD Centre in Toronto and now, is on the Board of Directors as treasurer for the Ontario Reggio Association. Her passion for children’s curriculum is contagious to the 62 (and growing) teachers of the Discovery Preschools, and to the child care community; as new changes offer a different pedagogy of educating children. Her 10 year old son Davidson is a constant reminder to her ideal that you never underestimate the power of a child.
To ORA, Allison especially brings her commitment and savvy business approaches for the long term vision of the organization. Though far from the “A” type personality associated with finance, she blends an interesting combination of creativity and money sense to each meeting. It is her mission to have 1,000 members by the end of the Wonders of Learning Exhibit.
